University of california is a great university. Here we can say that many industries work for the future of citizens. But the most important thing is placement. Placement is something which is very important. I have been placed after loads of struggle. let me tell you my story. After doing engineering many people are not able to get a job due to lack of experience. I was one of them. But then I heard about internship. It is a practical training for the job which acts as a stair between the qualification and job. I did my internship and soon got a job. Hi- I am wondering what the Staff Assembly currently is doing regarding the first 2 bullet points in the vision/mission? Reaching out to and receiving feedback from all UC ANR staff on issues of concern, thereby giving staff a collective voice to Senior Leadership. and Offering opinions and recommendations to Senior Leadership on policies, processes and programs. How do staff provide input? Is there a current issue(s) that we are collectively voicing to senior leadership? I think staff have a lot of concerns and I would like to provide more opportunities for dialogue with leadership (or with council members that have access to senior leadership). Thank you

One of our staff members in our office would like to see HR explore pre-tax commute expenses, i.e. the purchasing of bus tickets/passes with pre-tax funds and a "commuter save up" account of sorts. Thank you!

I have a question regarding ANR Staff Assembly Scholarship for 2016/17. It states: "Applications will be accepted for training or conferences that occurred after July 1, 2016 and completed before April 30, 2017" What about training or conferences that end after April 30, 2017? I am interested in a couple of Spring Extension courses that start in April and end in June. It sounds like they would not be eligible for this round, but also may fall through the crack for next round 2017/2018?

    Rhett,

There will be no gap between this year and next.  Please collect all of your paperwork including receipts and evidence for course completion and wait for the call for scholarships sometime after July 1.

I have a question about the email I received regarding the scholarship opportunity. Is that just open to University employees or are County employees also eligible to apply?

    Hi Trish,

County employees are also eligible. - Jeannette

Responding to Shane Feirer’s August 4 comment regarding the Salary Range Adjustment. ANR budgets do not allow for a 2 percent increase for all eligible staff in addition to the merit-based increases. In recent years ANR and other UC campuses have taken an “across the board” approach in annual salary programs for policy covered (non-represented) staff, with all eligible staff receiving the same increase. For the 2016/2017, UC President Napolitano directed that the staff salary program be merit-based. This was part of a budget agreement with the State of California. With that said, ANR HR is paying attention to where staff salaries are positioned within the Career Tracks salary ranges. As the Career Tracks salary ranges move based on local labor markets, we want to be sure our staff compensation allows us to recruit and retain our employees.

Salary Range Adjustment. It looks like the salary ranges for non-represented staff will be adjusted by 2% this year. If you are within the range after the adjustment your salary will not adjust. It seems like those that have been in the system do not benefit from this adjustment. Would it not make more sense to adjust everyone within the range by 2% (before merit increase)?

Thanks for your question. The Staff Assembly will ask John Fox to provide an answer.
